Well, why not? The stock version's Fiberglas (tm) body isn't stressed, so you can unbolt as little or as much as you want and substitute something else... in this case, something from 195x... But lower, and wider. For the first pass, I'd have done it so that as much of the original (repro/nos/salvaged) trim from the real 195x car would bolt on- what a hoot that would be.
