Hatchback or flat-floding back seat car?

Question by say_sowhat: Hatchback or flat-floding back seat car?
I live in Manhattan and didn't need a car for my entire life. But now that I need to relocate to a different city for a couple of years, I need a car. I am a musician, and I need a hatchback or any sedan that has a flat-folding back seat so I can fit my instrument.

I heard most of cars from Honda has fordable back seat but I really don't want to get a Japanese car brand, not to mention toyota.
