My second hand car has rust underneath is there anything I can do to remove it ?

Question by planck12: My second hand car has rust underneath is there anything I can do to remove it ?
Brought a second hand nissan path finder 1999. I was inspecting the underneath and it seems its got its fair share of rusting that is happening underneath. Around the tire bushings and other areas viz a viz muffler etc. Is there something I can do without spending a lot of money to remove the rust and mitigate its bad effects.

Any help would be much appreciated.
