Are the cars in USA expensive?

Question by : Are the cars in USA expensive?
I see in american movies people buying used cars for about 500 U$ and I get really impressed by such low prices.

So,here in Brazil the cars are somewhat expensive,well at least in my opinion they are.I was just wondering how expensive are the same cars in other countries.
